This latter is the use of it in Jam 4:3. The purpose of the prayer is evil, it is therefore amiss and cannot be granted (compare 2Ch 6:37).<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: International Standard Bible Encyclopedia<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Amiss<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;out of place&#8221; (a, negative, topos, &#8220;a place&#8221;), denotes unbecoming, not befitting. It is used four times in the NT, and is rendered &#8220;amiss&#8221; three times in the RV; in the malefactor&#8217;s testimony of Christ, <span class='bible'>Luk 23:41<\/span>; in Festus&#8217; words concerning Paul, <span class='bible'>Act 25:5<\/span>, &#8220;if there is anything amiss in the man&#8221; (AV, &#8220;wickedness&#8221;); in <span class='bible'>Act 28:6<\/span>, of the expected effect of the viper&#8217;s attack upon Paul (AV, &#8220;harm&#8221;); in <span class='bible'>2Th 3:2<\/span>, of men capable of outrageous conduct, &#8220;unreasonable.&#8221; See HARM, UNREASONABLE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> akin to kakos, &#8220;evil,&#8221; is translated &#8220;amiss&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Jam 4:3<\/span>; elsewhere in various ways.
