I., March 14, 1786. In early life he neglected religious instruction, associated with the profane, and at the age of twenty-one had become a confirmed infidel. Severe illness brought him near death&#8217;s door, and then he vowed to serve God. He was licensed to preach March 7, 1812; began preaching at Woodstock, Conn., and also preached at Southbridge, Mass. The years 1821-22, and especially 1824, of his ministry were distinguished by rich displays of divine grace. He died Feb. 18,1827. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer.
