He studied and practiced law during his young manhood; emigrated to Illinois in 1854, and, after laboring several years as local preacher, in 1869 entered the Southern Illinois Conference. He died June 10,1874. Mr. Armstrong possessed a brilliant intellect, and was a thorough student, a fluent speaker, a popular preacher, and an excellent disciplinarian.
