a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Ireland Dec. 25,1775. He experieniced conversion in his twenty-fifth year, and united with the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Soon after he was licensed to preach. In 1812 he emigrated to America, and was four years employed as a missionary in Nova Scotia, under the auspices of the British Conference. In 1817 he became connected with the Baltimore Conference; and when the Pittsburgh Conference was formed he was, made one of its members. In 1842 he became a superannuate, which relation he continued to sustain until his death, Aug. 16, 1859. As a Christian Mr. Armstrong’s piety was profound, consistent, and uniform, absorbing all his affections, and employing all his energies. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1860, p. 70.<\/p>\n
