C., in 1814. He experienced religion at the age of fourteen; received license to preach while a student at Randolph Macon College, Va., in 1837; and in 1840 entered the Virginia Conference. During the few years that his health permitted, his services were highly acceptable and exemplary. A pulmonary difficulty obliged him to locate, and he retired to Georgia. He died Nov. 7,1848. Mr. Askew was characterized by whole- heartedness, piety, zeal. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M. E.
