Originally a member of the Church of England , she was influenced by the Tractarian movement and became a Catholic  in 1850 . She entered the Third Order of Saint Dominic at Clifton in 1852 , and the following year was professed at Stone where she remained for forty years, devoting much of her time to writing, and being prioress  from 1872  until her death .
