For a short time he resided in Newbury, Mass., but receiving an invitation to preach at Marblehead, he accepted it in order that he: might minister to the poor fishermen. He was on his way thither when the vessel in which he had embarked was shipwrecked, and the whole company, consisting of twenty-three persons, were drowned except .two,  Mr. Avery being one of the victims, Aug. 14, 1635.
