After being licensed to preach, he was presentt 1 to the parish of Lecropt, where he officiated for about five years; and in 1779 he was removed to the Outer High-Church, in the city of Glasgow, which charge he held till his death, Feb. 13, 1818. Dr. Balfour was a man&#8217;of sterling piety, of kind disposition, and of much power in the pulpit. During a long life he maintained an unblemished reputation, and discharged his duties as a Christian minister with rare fidelity.
