June 24, 1813. He joined the Church in his nineteenth year; studied for the ministry at Norwalk Seminary; received license to exhort in 1834, and in 1835 was licensed to preach and received into the Ohio Conference. For thirty-three years he travelled and preached with great diligence and zeal. He died Jan. 4, 1869. Mr. Barkdull was warm and open-hearted in temperament, genial in disposition, and as a preacher evangelical, earnest, and logical.
