God, he holds, is wholly other than man, not apprehensible by man&#8217;s reason nor attainable by human endeavor. Christianity is a revealed and supernatural religion. Man must trust God&#8217;s plan of salvation or be doomed to utter ruin. God is the sole judge and his judgments are beyond man&#8217;s attainments. The Barthian position is called &#8220;crisis theology&#8221; (crisis, the Greek word for judgment) and &#8220;dialectical theology&#8221; (because of the emphasis upon the contradict on between God and this world).
