He experienced conversion when about twenty-one; soon began active service as exhorter and local preacher; and in 1821 entered the Philadelphia Conference, in which he labored with zeal and fidelity until the close of his life, Aug. 6, 1851. Mr. Bayne was a warm friend, a firm Methodist, and a plain, energetic, and useful minister.
