The word has a wider meaning than that of being an orphan. <\/p>\n<p> Note: The corresponding adjective, orphanos, is translated &#8220;desolate&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Joh 14:18<\/span> (AV, &#8220;comfortless&#8221;); &#8220;fatherless&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Jam 1:27<\/span>; see DESOLATE, FATHERLESS. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to rob, defraud, deprive,&#8221; is used in <span class='bible'>1Ti 6:5<\/span>, in the Passive Voice, of being deprived or &#8220;bereft&#8221; (of the truth), with reference to false teachers (AV, &#8220;destitute&#8221;).
