Beyth ha-Arabah&#8217;,  , house of the desert; Sept.  v. r.  and ; in Jos 18:22,  v. r. ), one of the six cities of Judah which were situated in the Arabah, i.e. the sunk valley of the Jordan and Dead Sea (wilderness, Jos 15:61), on the north border of the tribe, and apparently between Beth-hoglah and the high land on the west of the Jordan valley (Jos 15:6). It was afterward included in the list of the towns of Benjamin (Jos 18:22). It is elsewhere (Jos 18:18) called simply ARABAH SEE ARABAH (q.v.). The wilderness of Judah is the barren land West of the Dead Sea. Beth-arabah is not yet identified.<\/p>\n<p>(2) One of the cities of Benjamin (Jos 18:22). Septuagint (Codex Vaticanus) reads Baithabara, and this may be correct. The names are early confounded.
