City of Reuben on the east of the Jordan. Jer 48:23. Apparently also called BAAL-MEON, BETH-BAAL-MEON, and BEON, Jos 13:17; Num 32:3; Num 32:38 (which says ‘their names being changed’); 1Ch 5:8. Eze 25:9 speaks of it as a city that was ‘the glory of the country.’ Identified with the ruins at Tell Maain, 31 41′ N, 35 44′ E.<\/p>\n
