He experienced conversion at the age of fifteen, and in 1827 entered the New York Conference. Subsequently he became a member of the New England Conference, and in 1840 received a transfer to the Ohio Conference. He served the Church with great faithfulness, and spent his last eight years as a superannuate. He died Oct. 14, 1875. Mr. Bontecou was enterprising, frugal, and benevolent; buoyant, and uniformly pious.
