He was ordained in 1810, and spent seventeen years as a preacher in Kentucky. In 1827 he removed to Missouri. He is said to have been a man of high order of talent, well educated, energetic, and an impressive preacher, and he stood in the front rank as a defender of the faith. His connection, through his ministerial life, was with the Old-school Baptists, who held anti-mission  principles. He died Sept. 21, 1867. See Cathcart, Baptist Encyclop. p. 120. (J. C.
