{"id":28622,"date":"2022-09-28T10:20:19","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T15:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/bow-bowed-verb\/"},"modified":"2022-09-28T10:20:19","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T15:20:19","slug":"bow-bowed-verb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/bow-bowed-verb\/","title":{"rendered":"Bow, Bowed (Verb)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Bow, Bowed (Verb)<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to bend,&#8221; is used especially of bending the knees in religious veneration, <span class='bible'>Rom 11:4<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Rom 14:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Eph 3:14<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Phi 2:10<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> signifies &#8220;to bend completely together, to bend down by compulsory force,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Rom 11:10<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to bow together&#8221; (sun, &#8220;together with,&#8221; kupto, &#8220;to bow&#8221;), is said, in <span class='bible'>Luk 13:11<\/span>, of the woman crippled with a physical infirmity. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to incline, to bow down,&#8221; is used of the women who in their fright &#8220;bowed&#8221; their faces to the earth at the Lord&#8217;s empty tomb, <span class='bible'>Luk 24:5<\/span>; of the act of the Lord on the Cross immediately before giving up His Spirit. What is indicated in the statement &#8220;He bowed His head,&#8221; is not the helpless dropping of the head after death, but the deliberate putting of His head into a position of rest, <span class='bible'>Joh 19:30<\/span>. The verb is deeply significant here. The Lord reversed the natural order. The same verb is used in His statement in <span class='bible'>Mat 8:20<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 9:58<\/span>, &#8220;the Son of Man hath not where to lay His head.&#8221; It is used, too, of the decline of day, <span class='bible'>Luk 9:12<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 24:29<\/span>; of turning enemies to flight, <span class='bible'>Heb 11:34<\/span>.
