After filling a number of important stations, he was made presiding elder in 1854, and died 1856. By his energy, industry, and ability, he made up to a large extent for a deficient education, and rose to be a good scholar, and was “long an honor and ornament” to the Conference. As a preacher he was earnest and ardent to a degree beyond his physical strength. His impulsive temperament made him also a vigorous, though not always a careful writer.
