He graduated with the highest honors from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., in 1816; proceeded to Newburgh, where he engaged in the work of teaching, devoting his leisure hours to theological study, with a view to the ministry, and in the year following was recalled to his alma mater as a tutor. On June 30, 1819, he was ordained pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg, to which he had been unanimously called. He died November 18, 1820. Mr. Bruen was a man of deep piety, brilliant gifts, and of untiring devotion to duty.
