He was educated at Oxford; was a popular preacher; and became successively prebendary of Durham (1572), archdeacon of Northumberland (1573), and rector of Ryton, in Durham (1578). He died April 16, 1617. He was an admirer of Calvin, and a strenuous opponent of Rome.
