Falling into disgrace with the king, he withdrew to a solitude, was ordained priest, and then retired with some companions to the island of Ayr. The bishop of St. David&#8217;s sent him to the monastery of St. Hismael, in Ross, or Pembrokeshire; and, when Henry I of England conquered those parts, St. Caradoc and his fellow monks suffered bitter persecution.
