He was appointed chaplain to the 88th Foot in 1759; obtained an augmentation of stipend in 1794, and died Oct. 2,1798, aged seventy-seven years. He was highly esteemed for his attention to parochial duty, and his benevolence to the poor in his parish. See Fasti Eccles.
