He taught in Quebec for four years, and later (1720 -1723 ) explored the French colonies in America, at the request of the government. For twenty-two years he was an editor of the &#8220;Memoires de Trevoux,&#8221; a monthly journal of bibliography, history, and science. He wrote a biography of Mother Marie de l&#8217;Incarnation, and histories of Japan, San Domingo, Paraguay, and Canada .
