New Haven, Conn., Sept. 22,1639. He graduated from Harvard College in 1659; was ordained pastor of the Church in Marblehead, Mass., Aug. 13, 1684, after having preached there sixteen years, and died May 29, 1724. . Mr. Cheever was distinguished for his thorough knowledge of the Scriptures, and for the earnestness and simplicity of his preaching.
