Established as Old Hall Green Academy in 1769. Reconstructed and chartered as Saint Edmund&#8217;s College in 1193 by Bishop Douglass to continue the work of Douai in southern England. In 1869 it became simply a school for boys but was restored as a theological seminary by Archbishop Bourne in 1905.
