He studied at the school in Fanlghanvale, and afterwards at the University of Glasgow. A Presbyterian congregation having, through London merchants, who carried on a trade with the Patapsco river, Maryland, secured him as their minister, he was accordingly sent over, ordained, and installed  October 1715. After two years&#8217; service he obtained leave from the presbytery to resign his pastoral charge, on account of his want of success and the paucity of his flock. He received a call from Pomonkey, in the New Castle Presbytery, which he accepted, and was installed. He died almost instantly, June 28, 1752, while preaching at the funeral of a person who had died suddenly.
