He served as United States vice-consul and acting consul at Athens several years, .and revisited America. in 1872,1880, and 1889. He was the author of A Commentary on the Gospels (2 volumes):  A Treatise on the Character of Christ: The Greek Church:  A Bible Dictionary:  and several pamphlets. See (Am.) Cong.
