Vers. only in Isa 13:10 (the stars of heaven and constellations thereof shall not give their light), for the Heb. , kesil&#8217; (in the plur.), i.e. the fat or clear (Sept. , Vulg. splendor), as a designation apparently of the large starry bodies generally. The same (Heb.) word elsewhere designates some special assemblage of stars (Orion, Job 9:9; Job 38:31; Amo 5:8); and once the name of a town (Chesil, Jos 15:30). (See Schnaar, Ueb. d. SEE ASTRONOMY. <\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Constellation<\/h2>\n<p>a cluster of stars, or stars which appear to be near each other in the heavens, and which astronomers have reduced to certain figures (as the &#8220;Great Bear,&#8221; the &#8220;Bull,&#8221; etc.) for the sake of classification and of memory. In <span class='bible'>Isa. 13:10<\/span>, where this word only occurs, it is the rendering of the Hebrew _kesil_, i.e., &#8220;fool.&#8221; This was the Hebrew name of the constellation Orion (<span class='bible'>Job 9:9<\/span>; <span class='bible'>38:31<\/span>), a constellation which represented Nimrod, the symbol of folly and impiety.
