See ARISE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to bring through to an end&#8221; (dia, &#8220;through,&#8221; telos, &#8220;an end&#8221;), &#8220;to finish fully&#8221; or, when used of time, &#8220;continue right through,&#8221; is said of &#8220;continuing&#8221; fasting up to the time mentioned, <span class='bible'>Act 27:33<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> see ABIDE. <\/p>\n<p> * Compounds of meno with this meaning, are as follows: <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to continue throughout,&#8221; i.e., without interruption (No. 3 with dia, &#8220;through&#8221;), is said of the dumbness of Zacharias, <span class='bible'>Luk 1:22<\/span>, AV, &#8220;remained;&#8221; of the &#8220;continuance&#8221; of the disciples with Christ, <span class='bible'>Luk 22:28<\/span>; of the permanency of the truth of the Gospel with churches, <span class='bible'>Gal 2:5<\/span>; of the unchanged course of things, <span class='bible'>2Pe 3:4<\/span>; of the eternal permanency of Christ, <span class='bible'>Heb 1:11<\/span>. See ABIDE, TARRY. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to remain by or near&#8221; (para, &#8220;beside,&#8221; and No. 3), hence, &#8220;to continue or persevere in anything,&#8221; is used of the inability of Levitical priests to &#8220;continue,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Heb 7:23<\/span>; of persevering in the law of liberty, <span class='bible'>Jam 1:25<\/span>; it is translated &#8220;abide&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Phi 1:25<\/span> (2nd clause, in the best mss.), RV (see Note (1)), and in <span class='bible'>1Co 16:6<\/span>. See ABIDE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to remain with&#8221; (pros, &#8220;with,&#8221; and No. 3), &#8220;to continue with a person,&#8221; is said of the people with Christ, <span class='bible'>Mat 15:32<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mar 8:2<\/span> (AV, &#8220;been with&#8221;); of &#8220;continuing&#8221; in supplications and prayers, <span class='bible'>1Ti 5:5<\/span>. See ABIDE, CLEAVE (unto), TARRY. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;to be strong towards&#8221; (pros, &#8220;towards,&#8221; used intensively, and kartereo, &#8220;to be strong&#8221;), &#8220;to endure in, or persevere in, to be continually steadfast with a person or thing,&#8221; is used of &#8220;continuing&#8221; in prayer with others, <span class='bible'>Act 1:14<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Rom 12:12<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Col 4:2<\/span>; in the Apostles&#8217; teaching, <span class='bible'>Act 2:42<\/span>; in the Temple, <span class='bible'>Act 2:46<\/span> (&#8220;continuing steadfastly,&#8221; RV), the adverb representing the intensive preposition; in prayer and the ministry, <span class='bible'>Act 6:4<\/span> (RV, &#8220;will continue steadfastly&#8221;); of Simon Magus with Philip, <span class='bible'>Act 8:13<\/span>. In <span class='bible'>Mar 3:9<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 10:7<\/span>, it signifies &#8220;to wait on;&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Rom 13:6<\/span>, to attend &#8220;continually&#8221; upon.
