After ordination he became professor of Scripture and Oriental languages at Maria-Laach. From 1872  to 1878  he edited the Jesuit periodical, &#8220;Stimmen aus Maria-Laach.&#8221; His own articles are noted for their clearness, vigor, and classic German  style.
