See QUARTER. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;a beginning&#8221; (its usual meaning), &#8220;first in time, order, or place,&#8221; is used to denote the extremities or &#8220;corners&#8221; of a sheet, <span class='bible'>Act 10:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 11:5<\/span>. See BEGINNING. <\/p>\n<p> Note: For the adjective akrogoniaios (from akros, &#8220;extreme, highest,&#8221; and No. 1), &#8220;a chief corner stone,&#8221; see CHIEF. They were laid so as to give strength to the two walls with which they were connected.
