The covering of the ark (, mikhseh, Gen 8:13) was possibly the lid of a hatchway (compare Mitchell, World before Abraham, 215).<\/p>\n<p>To the sons of Kohath was assigned the task of caring for the furniture of the Tabernacle whenever the camp was moved, a suitable covering (, kasah) of sealskin being designated for each of the specially sacred objects, the temple curtains also being used (Num 4:8, Num 4:9, Num 4:11, Num 4:12).<\/p>\n<p>Num 19:15 (camdh) may refer to anything used as a lid or covering; Job 24:7; Job 31:19 (kesuth) refer to clothing or bed-covering.<\/p>\n<p>Figurative: Abaddon hath no covering; (kesuth) from God (Job 26:6); He will destroy &#8230; the face of the covering (ha-lot) that covereth all peoples (Isa 25:7). See VEIL. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to cover up or over&#8221; (epi, &#8220;over&#8221;), is used in <span class='bible'>Rom 4:7<\/span>, lit., &#8220;whose sins are covered over.&#8221; Cp. epikalumma, &#8220;a cloke,&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Pe 2:16<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to cover around&#8221; (peri, &#8220;around&#8221;), e.g., the face, and so, to blindfold, is translated &#8220;cover&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Mar 14:65<\/span>, &#8220;blindfold&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 22:64<\/span>. In <span class='bible'>Heb 9:4<\/span>, it signifies &#8220;to overlay.&#8221; See BLINDFOLD, OVERLAY. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;to cover together;&#8221; the sun&#8211;, however, is intensive, and the verb signifies &#8220;to cover wholly, to cover up,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 12:2<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to cover up&#8221; (kata, intensive), in the Middle Voice, &#8220;to cover oneself,&#8221; is used in <span class='bible'>1Co 11:6-7<\/span> (RV, &#8220;veiled&#8221;). <\/p>\n<p> Note: In <span class='bible'>1Co 11:4<\/span>, &#8220;having his head covered&#8221; is, lit., &#8220;having (something) down the head.&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit. denotes &#8220;something thrown around&#8221; (peri, &#8220;around,&#8221; ballo, &#8220;to throw&#8221;); hence, &#8220;a veil, covering,&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 11:15<\/span> (marg.), or &#8220;a mantle around the body, a vesture,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Heb 1:12<\/span>.
