He studied at Halle, where he also for some-time acted as teacher at the orphanage. In 1730 he was called to Berlin as con-rector at the Kolnische gymnasium, was made in 1742 pro-rector, and finally rector. He died May 27, 1778, having published, Brief des Apostel Jacobi, ubersetzt meit Anmerkungen (Berlin, 1747):  Das Neue Testament von neuen ubersetzt und mit Anmerkungen begleitet (ibid. 1764, 1765, 3 volumes); a work which caused his deposition from office, because he therein advocated.
