The Revised Version (British and American) in Mat 26:69; Joh 18:17; Act 12:13; Act 16:16 gives maid for , paidske, a girl, i.e. (spec.) a maidservant or young female slave (the King James Version damsel), and child for , paidon, a half-grown boy or girl, in Mar 5:39, Mar 5:40 bis. 41.<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: International Standard Bible Encyclopedia<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Damsel<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> a diminutive of kore, &#8220;a girl,&#8221; denotes &#8220;a little girl&#8221; (properly a colloquial word, often used disparagingly, but not so in later writers); in the NT it is used only in familiar conversation, <span class='bible'>Mat 9:24-25<\/span> (AV, &#8220;maid&#8221;); <span class='bible'>Mat 14:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mar 5:41-42<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mar 6:22<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Mar 6:28<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> a diminutive of pais, denotes &#8220;a young child (male or female)&#8221; in the AV of <span class='bible'>Mar 5:39-41<\/span> (1st line); the RV corrects &#8220;damsel&#8221; to &#8220;child,&#8221; so as to distinguish between the narrative of facts, and the homely address to the little girl herself, in which, and in the following sentence, korasion is used.
