It is translated &#8220;were in jeopardy&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 8:23<\/span>, and &#8220;stand we in jeopardy,&#8221; <span class='bible'>1Co 15:30<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p> Note: Kindunos, akin to A, &#8220;peril, danger,&#8221; is always rendered &#8220;peril,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Rom 8:35<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 11:26<\/span> (eight times). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;held in, contained in&#8221; (en, &#8220;in,&#8221; echo, &#8220;to have, hold&#8221;), hence, &#8220;bound under obligation to, liable to, subject to,&#8221; is used in the sense of being in &#8220;danger&#8221; of the penal effect of a misdeed, i.e., in a forensic sense, signifying the connection of a person with (a) his crime, &#8220;guilty of an eternal sin,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Mar 3:29<\/span>, RV; (b) the trial or tribunal, as a result of which sentence is passed, <span class='bible'>Mat 5:21-22<\/span>, &#8220;the judgment,&#8221; &#8220;the council;&#8221; enochos here has the obsolete sense of control (J. Hastings); (c) the penalty itself, <span class='bible'>Mat 5:22<\/span>, &#8220;the hell of fire,&#8221; and, with the translation &#8220;worthy&#8221; (AV, &#8220;guilty&#8221;), of the punishment determined to be inflicted on Christ, <span class='bible'>Mat 26:66<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mar 14:64<\/span>, &#8220;death;&#8221; (d) the person or thing against whom or which the offense is committed, <span class='bible'>1Co 11:27<\/span>, &#8220;guilty,&#8221; the crime being against &#8220;the body and blood of the Lord;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Jam 2:10<\/span>, &#8220;guilty&#8221; of an offense against all the Law, because of a breach of one commandment. <\/p>\n<p> Apart from the forensic sense, this adjective is used of the thing by which one is bound, &#8220;subject to&#8221; (bondage), in <span class='bible'>Heb 2:15<\/span>.
