After studying at Zwolle and Cologne, he entered the Carthusian  monastery  of Roermond, where he acquired a reputation for great sanctity. Though not infrequently styled Blessed , the cause of his beatification has never begun. Denys was a prolific writer; his works form a complete summary of medieval scholastic teaching.
