He studied at Salamanca, where he obtained a chair as professor of law; afterwards became official of Compostella, auditor of Valladolid, archdeacon of Calatrava, member of the inquisition, and finally president of Grenalaa in 1569. He obtained the cardinal&#8217;s hat in 1578, went to Rome two years later, and died there, August 27, 1600. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
