Much prominence is given by the Chronicler to the 24 classes of priests, singers, and doorkeepers, who served in turns in the temple (compare Luk 1:5, Luk 1:8). DIVIDE, A, No. 7. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;a standing apart&#8221; (diche, &#8220;asunder, apart,&#8221; stasis, &#8220;a standing;&#8221; the root di&#8212; indicating &#8220;division,&#8221; is found in many words in various languages), is used in <span class='bible'>Rom 16:17<\/span>, where believers are enjoined to mark those who cause &#8220;division&#8221; and to turn away from them; and in <span class='bible'>Gal 5:20<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;seditions&#8221;), where &#8220;divisions&#8221; are spoken of as &#8220;works of the flesh.&#8221; Some mss. have this noun in <span class='bible'>1Co 3:3<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> (Eng., &#8220;schism&#8221;), denotes &#8220;a cleft, a rent,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Mat 9:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mar 2:21<\/span>; then, metaphorically, &#8220;a division, dissension,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Joh 7:43<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 9:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 10:19<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Co 1:10<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Co 11:18<\/span>; in <span class='bible'>1Co 12:25<\/span> it is translated &#8220;schism&#8221; (marg., &#8220;division&#8221;).
