See GET, PART. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> signified, primarily, &#8220;to draw out a ship&#8217;s bilgewater, to bale or pump out&#8221; (from antlos, &#8220;bilge-water&#8221;), hence, &#8220;to draw water&#8221; in any way (ana, &#8220;up,&#8221; and a root, tel&#8212;, &#8220;to lift, bear&#8221;), <span class='bible'>Joh 2:8-9<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 4:7<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Joh 4:15<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p> Note: In <span class='bible'>Joh 4:11<\/span>, &#8220;to draw with&#8221; translates the corresponding noun antlema, &#8220;a bucket for drawing water by a rope.&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> ek, &#8220;out of,&#8221; and No. 2, &#8220;to draw away, or lure forth,&#8221; is used metaphorically in <span class='bible'>Jam 1:14<\/span>, of being &#8220;drawn away&#8221; by lust. As in hunting or fishing the game is &#8220;lured&#8221; from its haunt, so man&#8217;s lust &#8220;allures&#8221; him from the safety of his self-restraint. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to arrange in order,&#8221; is used in <span class='bible'>Luk 1:1<\/span>; RV, &#8220;to draw up&#8221; (some interpret the word to mean to &#8220;bring together&#8221; from memory assisted by the Holy Spirit). <\/p>\n<p> * (B) In the sense of &#8220;approaching or withdrawing:&#8221; <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to come near, draw nigh&#8221; (akin to engus, &#8220;near&#8221;), is translated by the verb &#8220;draw near or nigh,&#8221; in the RV, <span class='bible'>Luk 12:33<\/span>, AV, &#8220;approacheth;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Heb 10:25<\/span>, AV, &#8220;approaching;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 18:35<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 19:29<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Luk 19:37<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 22:6<\/span>, AV, &#8220;was come nigh;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Luk 7:12<\/span>, &#8220;came nigh;&#8221; <span class='bible'>Act 9:3<\/span>, &#8220;came near.&#8221; See APPROACH. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> is translated &#8220;draw near&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Heb 4:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Heb 7:25<\/span>, RV, <span class='bible'>Heb 10:22<\/span>, AV and RV; in <span class='bible'>Act 7:31<\/span>, &#8220;drew near.&#8221; See COME, GO. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> used transitively, &#8220;to bring to;&#8221; intransitively, &#8220;to draw near,&#8221; is so rendered in <span class='bible'>Act 27:27<\/span>. See BRING. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to draw back, withdraw,&#8221; perhaps a metaphor from lowering a sail and so slackening the course, and hence of being remiss in holding the truth; in the Active Voice, rendered &#8220;drew back&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Gal 2:12<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;withdrew&#8221;); in the Middle, in <span class='bible'>Heb 10:38<\/span>, &#8220;shrink back&#8221; RV (AV, &#8220;draw back&#8221;); the prefix hupo, &#8220;underneath,&#8221; is here suggestive of stealth. In <span class='bible'>Heb 10:39<\/span> the corresponding noun, hupostole, is translated &#8220;of them that shrinking back&#8221;). In <span class='bible'>Act 20:20<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Act 20:27<\/span>, &#8220;shrank,&#8221; RV.
