See CAST, No. 5. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to chase away, drive out&#8221; (ek, &#8220;out,&#8221; dioko, &#8220;to pursue&#8221;), is used in <span class='bible'>1Th 2:15<\/span>, RV, &#8220;drave out,&#8221; AV, &#8220;have persecuted.&#8221; Some mss. have this verb for dioko, in <span class='bible'>Luk 11:49<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> signifies &#8220;to drive, impel, urge on.&#8221; It is used of &#8220;rowing,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Mar 6:48<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 6:19<\/span>; of the act of a demon upon a man, <span class='bible'>Luk 8:29<\/span>; of the power of winds upon ships, <span class='bible'>Jam 3:4<\/span>; and of storms upon mists, <span class='bible'>2Pe 2:17<\/span>, AV, &#8220;carried,&#8221; RV, &#8220;driven.&#8221; See also CARRY, Note (2), ROW. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> apo, &#8220;from,&#8221; and No. 3, &#8220;to drive from,&#8221; is used in <span class='bible'>Act 18:16<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to thrust out&#8221; (ek, &#8220;out,&#8221; otheo, &#8220;to push, thrust&#8221;), is translated &#8220;thrust&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 7:45<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;drave&#8221;); in <span class='bible'>Act 27:39<\/span>, of &#8220;driving&#8221; a storm-tossed ship ashore (RV, &#8220;drive,&#8221; AV, &#8220;thrust&#8221;). See THRUST. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to bear,&#8221; is translated &#8220;driven&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Act 27:15<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Act 27:17<\/span>, of &#8220;being borne&#8221; in a storm-tossed ship. See BEAR, etc. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> lit., &#8220;to bear through&#8221; (dia, &#8220;through,&#8221; and No. 6), in <span class='bible'>Act 27:27<\/span> signifies &#8220;to be borne hither and thither&#8221; (RV, &#8220;were driven to and fro;&#8221; AV, &#8220;up and down&#8221;).
