Sometimes it refers to the beginning of the season, e.g. the early rain (Psa 84:6; Jam 5:7; see RAIN). It may also have the sense of speedily (Psa 46:5). The early morning is frequently commended as the hour for prayer. See examples of Jesus (Mar 1:35; Luk 21:38; Joh 8:2); also Abraham (Gen 19:27), Jacob (Gen 28:18), Gideon (Jdg 6:38), Samuel (1Sa 15:12), David (1Sa 17:20).<\/p>\n<h4 align='right'><i><b>Fuente: International Standard Bible Encyclopedia<\/b><\/i><\/h4>\n<h2>Early<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> denotes &#8220;daybreak, dawn&#8221; (cp. Lat. orior, &#8220;to rise&#8221;). Used with the adverb batheos, &#8220;deeply,&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 24:1<\/span>, it means &#8220;at early dawn&#8221; (RV). In <span class='bible'>Joh 8:2<\/span> it is used in the genitive case, orthrou, &#8220;at dawn,&#8221; i.e., &#8220;early in the morning.&#8221; In <span class='bible'>Act 5:21<\/span>, it is used with the article and preceded by the preposition hupo, &#8220;under, or about,&#8221; lit., &#8220;about the dawn,&#8221; &#8220;about daybreak,&#8221; RV (for AV, &#8220;early in the morning.&#8221;). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;early,&#8221; akin to A., is a later form of orthrios. It is found, in the most authentic mss., in <span class='bible'>Luk 24:22<\/span>, of the women at the sepulchre, lit., &#8220;early ones&#8221; (some texts have the form orthrios, &#8220;at daybreak&#8221;). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> or proimos, a longer and later form of prois, pertaining to the &#8220;morning,&#8221; is formed from pro, &#8220;before&#8221; (cp. protos, &#8220;first&#8221;), and used in <span class='bible'>Jam 5:7<\/span>, of the early rain. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;early in the day, at morn,&#8221; is derived from pro, &#8220;before&#8221; (see B, No. 2, above).
