Pits thinks he had an archbishopric in. Ireland; but this is disowned by the judicious sir James Ware (De Scriptoribus Hiberniae, 2:126). Perhaps Edwardston was temporarily intrusted with an archbishopric in Italy. See Fuller, Worthies of England (ed. Nuttall), 3:167.
