JACOB JOSHUA, who died at Frankfort-on-the-Main in 1756, is the author of novellas on different treatises of the Talmud, for which see Furst, Bibl. Jud. 1:271 sq.<\/p>\n<p>2. JOSHUA BEN-ALEXANDER hak-Kohen, who died about 1620, was rabbi at Lemberg, and wrote commentaries on the Jewish ritual, entitled,   ; he also wrote derashas on the Pentateuch. JOSHUA BEN-JOSEPH, who died in 1648, was rabbi at Cracow, and wrote discussions on some &#8216;Talmudic treatises. See Furst, loc. cit. page 273 sq.<\/p>\n<p>4. JOSHUA of Lissa, was rabbi at Hamburg, and wrote under the title  , i.e., The Valley of Joshua, expositions on sections of the Pentateuch.
