{"id":48674,"date":"2022-09-28T19:31:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T00:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/forewarn\/"},"modified":"2022-09-28T19:31:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T00:31:08","slug":"forewarn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biblia.work\/dictionaries\/forewarn\/","title":{"rendered":"Forewarn"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Forewarn<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> with verbal forms as mentioned above, is translated &#8220;I forewarn&#8221; and &#8220;I did forewarn,&#8221; in the RV of <span class='bible'>Gal 5:21<\/span>, AV, &#8220;I tell (you) before&#8221; and &#8220;I have told (you) in time past;&#8221; here, however, as in <span class='bible'>2Co 13:2<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Th 3:4<\/span> (see below), the RV marg., &#8220;plainly&#8221; is to be preferred to &#8220;beforehand&#8221; or &#8220;before&#8221; (see under FORETELL); the meaning in <span class='bible'>Gal 5:21<\/span> is not so much that Paul prophesied the result of the practice of the evils mentioned, but that he had told them before of the consequence and was now repeating his warning, as leaving no possible room for doubt or misunderstanding; in <span class='bible'>1Th 3:4<\/span>, the subject told before was the affliction consequent upon the preaching of the Gospel; in <span class='bible'>1Th 4:6<\/span>, &#8220;we forewarned,&#8221; the warning was as to the consequences of whatsoever violates chastity. <\/p>\n<p> Note: In <span class='bible'>Luk 12:5<\/span> the verb hupodeiknumi, &#8220;to shew, teach, make known,&#8221; is translated &#8220;will warn&#8221; in the RV (AV, &#8220;forewarn&#8221;).
