He studied at Erlangen and Berlin, and was in 1837 appointed pastor at Altwied, near Neuwied-on-the-Rhine. In 1845 he was appointed successor to professor Krafft, at Erlangen, and in 1857 he was called to Posen as pastor of St. Peter&#8217;s, and member of consistory. He died there April 24, 1881, a doctor of theology and member of the upper consistory. He published, Der heilige Rock, ein evangelisches Zeugniss (Neuwied, 1845):  Evangelisches Zeugniss gegen die Irrlehren des Ghillany und Johannes Ronge (Erlaigen, 1849):  Osterbeute Heilsgutern Christlicher Hoffnung (2d ed. 1860):  Stephanus, der Prediger des Gottes der Herrlichkeit (1853):  Das alte Testament gegen Vorurtheile und Missverstaindnisse der Gebildeten unserer Zeit vertheidigt (1865).
