It is chiefly used in Matthew and Luke, once in John (<span class='bible'>Joh 5:10<\/span>), and, after the Acts, only <span class='bible'>Rev 13:3<\/span>, <span class='bible'>Rev 13:12<\/span>. See CURE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to heal,&#8221; is used (a) of physical treatment 22 times; in <span class='bible'>Mat 15:28<\/span>, AV, &#8220;made whole,&#8221; RV, &#8220;healed;&#8221; so in <span class='bible'>Act 9:34<\/span>; (b) figuratively, of spiritual &#8220;healing,&#8221; <span class='bible'>Mat 13:15<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 12:40<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Act 28:27<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Heb 12:13<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Pe 2:24<\/span>; possibly, <span class='bible'>Jam 5:16<\/span> includes both (a) and (b); some mss. have the word, with sense (b), in <span class='bible'>Luk 4:18<\/span>. Apart from this last, Luke, the physician, uses the word fifteen times. See WHOLE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to save,&#8221; is translated by the verb &#8220;to heal&#8221; in the AV of <span class='bible'>Mar 5:23<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Luk 8:36<\/span> (RV, &#8220;to make whole;&#8221; so AV frequently); the idea is that of saving from disease and its effects. See SAVE. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;to save thoroughly&#8221; (dia, &#8220;through,&#8221; and No. 3), is translated &#8220;heal&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Luk 7:3<\/span>, AV (RV, &#8220;save&#8221;).
