He became a Catholic , 1852 . Having served in the Scots Fusilier Guards, 1855 -1867 , he resigned as captain, and joined the Oratorian Fathers in London. Ordained, 1870 , he became Prefect of the Brothers of the Little Oratory, and was three times superior of the Oratorians . He was celebrated for his work among converts and in the Oratory  Middle School for boys.
