In 1716 he was appointed superintendent over a number of churches, and pastor at Knittlingen, where he died in 1727. Hobbhahn wrote, mainly under fictitious names, a number of excellent polemics against the Romish Church and the Syncretists. Of these, his Obsiegende Wahrheit, and Apologet. Schauplatz d. triumphirenden Wahrheit, against Eust. Eisenhut; Histor. theolog. Prfung d. rom. Priester Weihe, against Mandle; and especially Angetastete Juzngfer-Ehe d. lutherischen Kirche, which gave him much trouble, and endangered his life, are considered the best.  Jicher, Gelehrt.
