Chuntcah&#8217;, , prob. from the Syr. fortress, otherwise place of lizards; Sept.  v.r.  and ; Vulg. Athmatha), a town in the mountains of Judah, mentioned between Aphekah and Hebron (Jos 15:54), apparently in the district lying immediately west of Hebron (Keil, Comment. ad loc.). It is not mentioned by any other ancient  writer (Reland, Palcest. p. 723) except Eusebius and Jerome (Onomast. s. v, , Ammatha). There is some resemblance between the name and that of Kimath (), one of the places added in the Vat. text of the Sept. to the list in the Heb. text of 1Sa 30:27-31.
