Frequently it is untranslatable; sometimes it is rendered &#8220;indeed,&#8221; e.g., <span class='bible'>Mat 3:11<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 13:32<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 17:11<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;truly&#8221;); <span class='bible'>Mat 20:23<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Mat 26:41<\/span>; (some mss. have it in <span class='bible'>Mar 1:8<\/span>); <span class='bible'>Mar 9:12<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;verily&#8221;). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;true,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;indeed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Joh 6:55<\/span> (twice), see RV marg.; some mss. have No. 3 here. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;truly&#8221; (from No. 2), is translated &#8220;indeed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Joh 1:47<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 4:42<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 8:31<\/span>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> an adverb from on, the present participle of eimi, &#8220;to be,&#8221; denotes &#8220;really, actually;&#8221; it is translated &#8220;indeed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Mar 11:32<\/span> (RV, &#8220;verily&#8221;); <span class='bible'>Luk 24:34<\/span>; <span class='bible'>Joh 8:36<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Co 14:25<\/span>, RV (AV &#8220;of a truth&#8221;); <span class='bible'>1Ti 5:3<\/span>, <span class='bible'>1Ti 5:5<\/span>, <span class='bible'>1Ti 5:16<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Ti 6:15<\/span>, RV, where some mss. have aionios, &#8220;eternal&#8221; (AV); in <span class='bible'>Gal 3:21<\/span>, &#8220;verily.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>  signifies &#8220;and in fact,&#8221; &#8220;for also&#8221; (kai, &#8220;and,&#8221; or &#8220;even,&#8221; or &#8220;also;&#8221; gar, &#8220;for;&#8221; gar always comes after the first word in the sentence); it is translated &#8220;For indeed&#8221; in the RV of <span class='bible'>Act 19:40<\/span>; <span class='bible'>2Co 5:4<\/span>; <span class='bible'>1Th 4:10<\/span> (AV, &#8220;and indeed&#8221;); AV and RV in <span class='bible'>Phi 2:27<\/span>. This phrase has a confirmatory sense, rather than a modifying effect, e.g, <span class='bible'>Mat 15:27<\/span>, RV, &#8220;for even,&#8221; instead of the AV &#8220;yet;&#8221; the woman confirms that her own position as a Gentile &#8220;dog&#8221; brings privilege, &#8220;for indeed the dogs, etc.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;for neither,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;neither indeed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Rom 8:7<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>  &#8220;but even,&#8221; or &#8220;but also,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;nay indeed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>2Co 11:1<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;and indeed.&#8221; RV marg., &#8220;but indeed&#8221;). <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> preceded by the particle ge, &#8220;at least, ever,&#8221; is rendered &#8220;indeed&#8221; in <span class='bible'>Gal 3:4<\/span>, RV (AV, &#8220;yet&#8221;).
